Film Permit for Feature Films, Docu-Fiction, Medium-Length Films, and Short Films in Morocco
Morocco has become a popular destination for international film productions due to its diverse landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and well-established film industry. However, to shoot a feature film, docu-fiction, medium-length film, or short film in Morocco, obtaining a film permit is a legal requirement. The Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM) is the official authority responsible for issuing filming permits and ensuring compliance with local production regulations.
Understanding the film permit process in Morocco is essential for a smooth production. This guide outlines the necessary steps, requirements, and procedures to help filmmakers efficiently secure their permits.
Film Permit Process in Morocco
Applying for a film permit for a feature film in Morocco involves working with a local Moroccan production company accredited by the CCM. This partnership ensures compliance with Moroccan laws, facilitates administrative procedures, and helps in navigating logistical aspects like location access, local crew hiring, and financial regulations.
Our team provides comprehensive support in acquiring the necessary permits, ensuring that your production runs smoothly without legal or administrative delays.

Why You Need a Film Permit in Morocco
Before obtaining a movie permit and operating legally in Morocco, you must identify a Moroccan production partner who holds an “autorisation d’exercice et agrément de production.” This authorization from the Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM) is crucial as executing cinematography for foreign entities is a regulated activity in Morocco. Not every production company possesses this authorization; therefore, carefully selecting a reliable production partner who understands your needs and defends your interests is a critical step in the process.
Requirements and Procedures for a Film Permit
The film permit application process must be initiated at least 15 days before the scheduled start of filming. The following documents are required:
– A request for a filming permit, signed and stamped by the manager of a Moroccan company approved for executive production, addressed to the Director of the Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM).
– The Filming Permit Application Form, duly completed, signed, and stamped by the Moroccan production company.

– Repatriation undertakings, signed and stamped by both the Moroccan company and the foreign production company.

– A film synopsis in Arabic or French.

– An agreement between the Moroccan company and the foreign production company to submit a bank statement to the CCM, detailing the financial transactions made in Morocco by the foreign production company.
– Signed and stamped contracts with Moroccan crew members, submitted before filming begins or within five days of signing.
– A Moroccan national holding a PIC must be designated as the Production Manager.
– The production company must recruit one trainee per eight technicians, selecting from the CCM’s official trainee list.
– A detailed work schedule.
– Daily call sheets must be submitted to the CCM on the eve of each filming day.
– Proof of payment for the Filming Permit Fee, as per the CCM’s current pricing structure.
