Final Round / Dernier Round (2021)
‘Final Round’ is a feature film production in Morocco, directed by the French-Moroccan Mohamed Fekrane and produced by Said Andam and Gustavo Cortés Bueno. The movie revolves around Rashid, a young man who lives in Morocco and participates in clandestine boxing fights to make a living. He aims to save enough money to cross the Strait of Gibraltar with his two friends by paying a smuggler. The story is an emotional journey that depicts the struggle and determination of the main character to achieve his dreams.
Dernier Round requested a fierce casting to find multiple young talents to play the kids’ roles in the movie, which brought unique challenges, the project looked for actors who could bring realism and depth to their roles. A co-production between multiple countries was opted for.
Location scouting led to the cities of Casablanca and Tangier, where both locations offered suitable visual angles to reflect the gritty, raw atmosphere of Rashid’s world and add a layer of authenticity to the film. The result is a remarkable story in a very everyday relevant context.
